Support during pregnancy

If you’re looking for a supportive, holistic approach to pregnancy, you’ve come to the right place. I hold a Well Mother Massage for Pregnancy Diploma. This is one of the most rigorous pregnancy massage qualifications in the world. Well Mother was established by Suzanne Yates in Bristol in 1990. It uses bodywork to aid the wellbeing of parents and babies. The technique offers a holistic approach to supportive touch with proven benefits. It can help women, babies, and families preparing for pregnancy during the maternity period and beyond. Well Mother trains health professionals, as well as working with parents.

Massage for pregnancy: antenatal & postnatal massage

Due to the intensive nature of Well Mother training, you can enjoy this massage throughout your pregnancy, the immediate postnatal period and beyond. It can be especially beneficial in easing complications during pregnancy. Techniques used in the massage can help with overdue labour and postnatal recovery. Or you can simply enjoy the massage for relaxation.

We tailor each treatment to meet your needs for the stage of pregnancy or post-natal period you are at. The massage is a combination of Swedish, Thai, and Shiatsu techniques. It is performed on a massage table or at floor level on a futon. I use lots of cushions and blankets for your comfort.

A Well Mother treatment is much more than just a massage. It includes special guided breathing and visualisation techniques. These can be used as preparation for labour and birth. Plus, I share antenatal exercises appropriate for you.

A first treatment usually lasts for 90 minutes which allows me to ensure the massage is tailored for you. Subsequent treatments may be 60 or 90 minutes in duration.

Promotes relaxation
Reduces anxiety
Helps with management of common pregnancy related ailments including: pelvic girdle pain & instability, back pain, headache, nausea, heartburn & reflux, constipation, oedema, restless legs...

I recently saw Lesley for pregnancy massage. Lesley’s clear explanation and manner put me at complete ease. Afterwards, I felt relaxed, tired muscles stretched and slept much better. The breathwork was so helpful and it was lovely to focus on and feel connected with my baby.
